Dear Sports Editor:

LAKE FOREST YACHT AND COUNTRY CLUB CROWNS NEW CHAMPIONS FOR THE 2003 SEASON.

The annual men’s championship golf tournament was held September 13th and 14th.  This year’s contest was divided into open and senior divisions.  This was the first year that Lake Forest Yacht and Country Club held a Senior Division.  Both Divisions were highly contested, with each going into sudden death playoffs.

The senior division winner was decided on the 2nd hole of sudden death.  Jim Johnson and Don Fleming ended the regulation 36 holes at a score of 159.  Jim Johnson prevailed with a par on the 2nd hole to become Lake Forest Yacht and Country Club first Senior Club Champion.

The Open division winner was decided on the 1st hole of sudden death.  Jim Copeland and Robert White ended their 36 holes of regulation tied with a score of 152.  Jim Copeland prevailed with a par on the very first hole of sudden death.

The competition did not stop at the club champions. All the flights were just as tough.  Net scores decided flight winners.

Lake Forest Yacht and Country Club would appreciate that you post the results in your next available edition.

Best Regards,
