Lake Forest Donates Emergency Cart to the City of Daphne |
|
|
Because the lease contract on golf carts was due to expire this spring, our general manager, Jake Bodiford, spent several months last fall negotiating a contract for new carts. At the same time it came to our attention that there was a need in Daphne for some kind of emergency vehicle to be used at public events such as ball games, parades, arts & craft shows, etc. At these events, it is often impossible for normal emergency vehicles like ambulances to get to the point of need. For example, at the annual Arts & Crafts Festival, the streets are barricaded and limited to walking traffic because of the booths. In order to close the deal with Lake Forest, Yamaha agreed to include a customized emergency cart that we could donate to the City on behalf of our members. Someday the cart may be used to help a member, although we certainly hope that it will never be necessary. Today, a presentation ceremony was held the country club. Present were the Daphne Fire Chief and other members of the Daphne Fire Department, Jake Bodiford, our golf professional, Steve Jurnudd, our golf course superintendent, Bobby Farley, and board members, Mitch Davis and Dennis Ivanjack along with some members of the press. The City personnel were thrilled with the gift and, once again, Lake Forest, more than any other development within the City, demonstrated its long standing policy of supporting the community in which we live. |
