On Monday October 20th at the annual membership meeting of the Lake Forest Property Owners' Association, a number of amendments to the by-laws were presented to the membership for their consideration.  The result of the voting is shown below.

One motion that was presented from the floor called for the first increase in dues in over twenty years.  That motion increasing the dues from $27.50 per month to $35.00 passed.  However, the actual impact of the motion will be less than would seem because for every year except one in the last twenty, there has been an assessment of $50 charged to the membership.   When this motion was presented, the Board of Directors promised that barring some unforeseen catastrophe, there would not be an assessment next year.  It is their hope that the assessment will become what it is intended, a special needs charge, instead of what it became twenty years ago, a needed source of revenue for the operation of the association.  The new dues figure in itself would amount to a $7.50 a month or $90 a year increase.  However, minus the $50 assessment, the membership will see a net affect of a $3.34 increase per month or $40 per year.
