GERALD F. BARROW, JR:  In the interest of exploring opportunities within Lake Forest Property Owners Association, I hereby ask to be considered the privilege to serve on the Board of Directors for the Lake Forest Property Owners Association.  I am a man of integrity and desire to serve my community.  I have always applied myself in various organizations in my community, both civic and religious.  I am a result-oriented person who is conceptual as well as a practical thinker with a keen eye for detail.  I look at the over all picture and best interest for my community.  I own my own business and franchise.  I was in pharmaceutical sales for 7 years and held national and regional sales awards.  I have co-owned a Landscaping and Construction company.  With this experience, I have increased in responsibility and complexity while compiling a track record that has produced greater profits.  Since moving to Lake Forest, I have seen some improvements.  I still do, however, believe there is room for more positive growth.  With a fresh new group of leaders, I see Lake Forest returning to a prime it has not seen in many years.

Married, wife Laurie, daughter Jenna.
A Lake Forest Resident for 8 years
Current member of the LFPOA Board of Directors

Employment background has been in the food service industry since 1977.  Included in this experience is restaurant ownership, supervision of multiple restaurants, and various positions in food service distribution including distribution center manager, transportation manager, purchasing, production, and customer service. The last 9 years have been as a franchise consultant for a large international restaurant company.

My purpose for running for the LFPOA Board is to address the issues that will help Lake Forest become known as, and be, “one of the best places to live in South Alabama”.  As a current member of the Board of Directors, all decisions to come in front of the board have been made with the good of the residents of Lake Forest, and the Property Owners Association, being the only consideration.  I take Article 1 “Purpose” of the By Laws of  the LFPOA as the guiding principle for making all decisions regarding LFPOA business.

It states:

“Lake Forest Property Owners Association, Inc. an Alabama nonprofit organization, herein referred to as “ the Corporation”, shall conduct affairs for the mutual benefit of the membership hereof and for the civic improvement, operation, maintenance, management, ownership, buying, selling and handling of the common facilities of Lake Forest”

She is interested in serving on the Lake Forest Property Owners Association because he business background, marina management and association management experience can be an asset to the association.  She feels that while our association is a country club, we are also a multi-million dollar business that needs to have fiscal responsibility and financial accountability.

CARL KAUFFMAN:  I am currently the chairman of the LFPOA Scholarship, Nominating and Communications committees.  My wife Lura and I have been residents of Lake Forest since 1996.  Lake Forest was chosen for its’ golf course, restrictive covenants and quality of housing.  As one who grew up in New Orleans, I wanted to move back south after living in Nashville, TN for 30 years, but did not want to return to New Orleans and all of it’s inherent problems.  I see great things happening in this community and want to continue to see it flourish.  I earned a B.M.E. from Loyola University, an M.M.E. from George Peabody College for Teachers, and a PhD from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education. I have been a public school band director for 36 years, currently teaching band and P.E. at Elberta Middle School, a position assumed on retiring after 27 years in the Nashville school system.  In Tennessee I was editor of the official state magazine for music teachers, and served as secretary-treasurer of the Middle Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association with a membership of over 200 schools.   I have performed as a professional musician in the New Orleans Symphony, Opera, Summer Pops and the Nashville Symphony and am currently a charter member of the Baldwin Pops community band.  At the last general meeting I was elected to fill a one-year vacancy on the LFPOA Board of Directors.  I wish to be re-elected so as to continue in my quiet, diplomatic way of serving Lake Forest.  Several of my ideas presented at the last general meeting have been implemented and others are being diligently pursued.  Re-elect Carl Kauffman to help Lake Forest become the best place to live on the Eastern Shore.    My hobbies include golf, cooking and travel.  My wife and I have made several trips to England, Ireland and Europe.  This October they will host two couples from Ireland in their first visit to America.  They have two grown children.

JIM MOSS:  My wife Edna and I chose the Community of Lake Forest as our retirement home in 2005 over any other residential community in Baldwin County.  While visiting friends and family over a 9-year period we have been privileged to enjoy the wonderful Lake Forest lifestyle.  I feel as though I would be an excellent choice to serve on the Lake Forest Board of Directors because of my successful background in business and a lifetime spent actively involved with community service.  As the General Manger of World Wide Field Operations of a Division of Dresser Industries I skillfully managed multi-million dollar projects from concept to completion.  Two-Way communication skills proved invaluable during my tenure as a businessman and as a community leader.  I have served on a Property Owners Association for 15-years, including 9-years as Board President of a 2400 home, Property Owners Association similar to Lake Forest.  If elected to the Board I will bring the energy, experience and enthusiasm to get the job done.  I will be committed to improving the Lake Forest Community as well as ensuring our association is solvent and profitable while retaining or improving all current amenities.  I believe strongly that success rests in the ability of the Lake Forest Board of directors to implement ideas from the membership.  I would be honored to have your vote and support.
