This is not Pretty !

It is not pretty to see this litter and the dumping on vacant lots in Lake Forest.  This was at Wingate N. Circle.  Bill Green and Roger Davidson cleaned the street on Saturday Jan 7th.  Please help clean up Lake Forest.

The above paragraph was received by the webmaster, but there is more to this story that you should know.  After hearing complaint after complaint about the dumping that has taken place on this street, these guys decided to take matters in their own hands to solve the problem.  Roger called the Building and Grounds Chairman, Ed Kirby, to ask if there would be a problem in cleaning up about a half a dozen lots in this cul-de-sac and putting the debris in the median to be picked up by the city.  The city guys had indicated that they had difficulty in getting their truck down in there for some reason.  Ed told him that was probably not the best solution since there is an ordinance against putting trash in the median.  He asked Roger to just let him think about it a bit to see if he could come up with another solution.  Unfortunately, Ed was tied up with a couple of other projects and didn't have a chance to get back to him.  So, Roger and Bill went ahead and cleaned up all those lots and put the trash in the median.  Apparently, Henry Lawson found out about it and called Roger to complain, telling him that putting trash in the median set a bad precedent.  He later called Ed and told him of his conversation with Roger and wanted to know what could be done about it.  Ed told Henry not to worry about it.  He said that he was partially at fault himself because he had not gotten back to Roger and that he would just get his own trailer and go down there himself and get the debris out of the median.  Henry then volunteered to help him if he did that, although Ed never took him up on the offer.  Ed took his trailer; went down to the site; and started loading the debris from the median.  One of the neighbors on the street saw Ed working and went out and helped clean it up.  The debris is now sitting on a trailer in Ed's backyard until he can have it taken to the dump on the first of the week.

Now this is how things should work!  Members of the community, Roger, Bill and another neighbor, take action to help beautify our neighborhood.  A representative of the community association, Ed, takes action to help them solve the problem, rather and sitting on his high-horse saying tsk, tsk for not following the letter of the law.  Way to go, gentlemen!  You did well!
