Excerpts from tonight's City Council packet

The first item is an excerpt from the minutes of the May 1st City Council meeting.  Lake Forest receives some attention in regards to the watershed.

Item two is from the Finance Committee meeting.

Item three is from the Buildings and Property Committee meeting.  Who is Dick Scott who is referenced as representing the Lake Forest Yacht Club?

Henry sent a nice letter to Ken Eslava.  See the text.

The next excerpt comes from a memo from Ken Eslava to Mayor Small.  It answers our earlier question of whether or not the Lawson Rd project includes the part in Lake Forest.  The answer to that question is no.  Also, when one travels the streets in Lake Forest and sees the seriousness of the road conditions along Ridgewood, for example, one has to wonder at the choice of Windsor and Lake Forest Blvd for the micro-surfacing work.

The committee of the City Council and representatives of the Baldwin County Board of Education met to discuss the issue of the new school.  The minutes of the meeting may be examined here.  Since they are quite long, let us summarize.  The City Council representatives asked that BCBE slow down with the project and try to reach an agreement with the city.  The City Council indicated that they did not want a "super" school but wanted more of a "village school" concept.  BCBE did their duty and met with the city.  They explained their plans patiently.  They plan to bid the job out in July or August.  The last line of the minutes quoting the school superintendent summed it up nicely. "Dr. Hollinger said that he agrees we need to digest this information and we know that we are not all going to get everything we want." Apparently, he was referring to the City Council.  Please read the minutes yourself for confirmation of our summary.
