At their public meeting on Monday, the Daphne City Council agreed to fund on a cost -sharing basis the new red light at the front entrance of Lake Forest.  Residents of the subdivision have been asking for such a light for quite some time.  The cost of the new light is over $50,000 of which the city is responsible for half.  Last year association president, Mitch Davis, went before the Public Safety Committee to request police action around the high school, new paving for Ridgewood Dr. and the red light at that entrance.  The committee referred him to the Public Works Committee for the street work and the lights.  Councilman Greg Burnam pointed out that the State had already done a survey of that spot and had refused to agree to the light.  Councilman Bob Kehr suggested that the survey may have been old and it might be worthwhile to ask for another.  The councilmen agreed to further the matter to Public Works and recently it was announced that the State had agreed.  Last night's action by the City should result in the new light in the near future.
